Advent Begins In the Dark

Brent Swanson preaches the first sermon in our Advent series entitled, 'Advent Begins in the Dark (Herod) ". This sermon is based off of Matthew 2:13-23.

This year we will be looking at the different characters in the Christmas story. The first character we will look at is King Herod. Herod shows us that Advent begins in the dark. The world Jesus was born into (and the world we wake up to every morning) is severely broken by sin. This explains so much of the sorrow, pain, and darkness we experience in this life. Although it is hard sometimes to face this darkness, it is necessary before we can experience the light of Christmas.
